Coming from a snap on verus decided to look for a new diagnostic tool that would not break my wallet and decided to take it for a spin. I could do everything the verus can do and more since it comes with the passthrough, performs bi directional tests even turn on the wippers or honk the horn. Every test imaginable can be made with the maxisys pro or elite for 1/3 of the price of a new verus. Only real downside is that you have a troubleshooter in the verus scanner and with the autel you have a forum where you post every problem or doubt and other members of the autel comunity will help and give you solutions to your problems. Not a big problem but easily resolved with mitchell or all data. Ive had a maxisys pro since it can out it has performed flawlessly , perfect. I own a small repair shop ranging from american to import vehicle from gas to diesel (ford powerstroke & dodge cummins) and have never had problems.
When you buy it new you will get 1 year of unlimited updates to new tests or new vehicle info after registering your scan tool on the autel pro page . After that year you will go to the pro autel page and simply pay the fee for another year update. For the pro its 1,299 yearly but its up to you. You dont have to pay it for the scan tool to continue to work. I havent updated mine in almost 2 years and performs neat everyday. Now i have acquired the new elite version of the pro with a new android better camera and with a faster processors. It just works. In all my 12 years as a tech ive used different scan tools and had never seen one as good as the maxisys pro and elite. Now that i have both i will be giving the pro to my employee and the elite for me. Thank Autel for making such great products.
Ps. Customer service is a little hard to get in touch with but very helpful once you get in touch they do everything by phone or remote access
Feel free to make question anytime

UPDATE -Mon,Aug, 2016
So i received my elite scanner very quickly. Customer services contacted me by email to see if their product had met my expectation. I like the fact that they contacted me and i havent seen that before.
Now continuing on the scanner i will be posting photos of the differences between the new Elite and the Pro (wich i use everyday on my shop)
The screen is brighter because is retina display (much like an ipad).
The bootup process is very very faster than the pro. The pro aprox 30 secs of boot up and 5-8 secs on the elite.
It has one more usb that is very usefull for connecting a mouse or a keyboard.
On the outside you will see is much thinner, lighter and rubber protection (feels more like hard plastic but its rubber) on the sides not on the corners like the pro (which are real rubber).
On the top right corner there is a led light that indicates the battery life which is great when you have the screen off. On the pro you have to turn the screen on to see batery life.
The elite come with a docking station where you can charge it of leave it out of harms way.
Im very impressed with my purchace. I hope this helps because when i purchased my pro the lack of information made me hold of a little bit but tool a leap of faith

I have hooked this product up to everything from an '05 Subaru STI to a 2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe. Links up great with no issues whatsoever. VERY happy with this purchase and would purchase it again in a heartbeat. I'm a die-hard PC-scanner based supporter. However, I wanted something relatively cheap that has similar capabilities but doesn't require a laptop. This fit the bill perfectly.

I have been a Ford Master Technician for 30 years and used about every brand diagnostic scanner over the years and this one is hands down the best and most universal scanner I have used to date! Never once have I had an issue with the Blue Tooth connection between the scanner and the VCM unlike what we use at Ford. Programs keys perfectly, bi-directional controls work flawless and is very fast processing of live data....WAY faster than Snap On Versus and the software especially for Ford is almost identical to Fords software with the IDS we use at the dealership...I actually prefer my Autel over the IDS now.

The scanner can be charged with the charge cable or you can plug the charge cable into the stand and then simply set the scanner in and out of the stand as needed and it stays charged when docked between uses. I have it set up on my shops WiFi and it lets me know when there are updates and they update often which I also like.

The scanner can also be used as a tablet, has great resolution and does everything Snap On's scanners do for a fraction of the price!

This is a nice heavy unit, not cheap and doesn't feel cheap in your hands, comes with about every adapter you could ever need foreign and domestic for PCM hook up and can be easily expanded for oscilloscope and other options.

My only complaint is that I didn't try one much sooner!!!

2011 Toyota Sienna had the TPMS check light on for the longest time. Toyota dealer wanted $135 to diagnose it and ball parked $150 to fix it. Of course at $285, I could buy this tool and a sensor. So I did. Turns out one of the sensor was dead. Used the TS501 to read all four sensor IDs from the OBD then found the culprit sensor ID by process of elimination. Cloned the ID into a new Autel MX sensor and swapped it out with the old one. After driving the car for 20 min, the ECM recognized that there was an active sensor with the same ID, check light went OFF. Checked that there was no other DTC with another OBD tool, then cleared the old TPMS error code from the ECM using the TS501.

This PRODUCT actually deserves a 10 star rating...I posted it as a ONE star rating to hopefully catch your attention...

The units sold here are NOT US based serial numbers...the significance of this is simple - Autel US does NOT provide technical support for these units...

Additionally, the software subscription expires after ONE year...I’m being told by an Autel rep that Chinese based serial number units are not eligible for the two year software subscription...I have emailed the seller, as well as Autel and will update this review when I have more information...

The worst part about this situation is that you won’t find out any of this until a year has passed...these scanners are awesome...incredibly well built...the only reason I found out everything else is due to calling Autel US to find out why I was being prompted to renew my software subscription...

*****UPDATE 11.01.2018*****

Amazon is taking the scanner back after reading the conversation with LEOGLOBAL and Autel China...purchasing another unit, but first confirming the serial number is US based...PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS and DO NOT PURCHASE FROM LEOGLOBAL!!!!!

So. This thing does work well. It even pulls pin numbers from instrument clusters on Volkswagen to code new keys. I like it so far.
